Q: Where are you from and how did you end up here in Tampa?

A: I’m originally from the midwest but I ended up in Tampa through the military and after doing service here, I decided to stay.

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: After I retired,I became a Tupperware Representative by accident when my husband became sick and also lost his job. We needed a way to supplement the income. I enjoyed it so I’ve stayed over the years. I love meeting people so this was a perfect fit. Also, the friendships, flexibility and the that Tupperware is a company that stands behind their people and it’s products.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in North Tampa?

A: 25 years.

Q: Who’s had the biggest positive impact in your life?

A: There are 2, I would say. My grandmother was a very strong women. She wanted you to stand on your own 2 feet, survive and be independent. So I think that’s where I get that from. Second is my husband, he always has my back and has looked out for me. He’s been there, he’s the wind beneath my wings.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?

A: My upcoming travel plans include a West Coast trip soon. The Grand Canyon, Hawaii and California, for sure.

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?

A: My favorite movie recently would be Hidden Figures because it showed what women are capable of if given the opportunity.

Q: What would be your best piece of advice about life?

A: My best advice about life is that we all get nervous at times. Doubt and uncertainty will come, too. But remember to pray and ask for guidance to make the right decisions. We have to remember to be bold and courageous. I know that’s easier said than done because I have this issue myself sometimes. Overall, little by little it will all fall into place. I’m more of a behind the scene person but in 2020 I want to try to step out. See what’s out there.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: Things on my bucket list are zip lining and skydiving.

Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: I like a little bit of everything like Jazz, Gospel and Pop. Just whatever the mood hits.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about North Tampa?

A: I like the North Tampa Area because there’s a lot to do including Busch Gardens, theaters and restaurants. There’s also easy access to the interstates for getting around the area.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

A: My family and close friends know me pretty well. I think I’m an open book.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Safety, Warmth and Family.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: Denzel Washington and Idris Elba for male costars and Angela Bassett and Taraji P. Henson for female costars.

Q: Do you think it is important to have that face to face contact and get to know your neighbors?

A: Yes, I think it’s very important to have that face to face contact with your neighbor or client. I know that Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media are popular but for me, I still prefer that personal touch. I think the 1 on 1 interaction is so important because it allows for people to get to know each other. You build a sense of trust and make a connection. Otherwise, it can be cold and it can feel like you’re just a number. This can be applied socially or for business.
