Julio Plata

Meet Julio Plata.

Q: What High School do you attend?

A: Middleton High School.

Please tell us about your current plans after high school and what inspired you to choose this path? I plan to go to college, play football and pursue my degree in Pre-med, it will be Anesthesiology for 8-10 years.

Please tell us a little bit about your family. My mother is from Alabama and my father is from Mexico. I have 1 older brother, his turning 21 in June and a younger brother who will turn 14 this June also. All of us are quite tall, my older brother is 5’11, me and my younger brother is about 6 feet.

Q: What inspired you to pursue your course of being an Anesthesiologist?

A: When my younger brother got sick, he was 8 years old at that time, he had a hardship, I’ve seen him suffer, that’s the time I’ve decided to go into the medical field so I can help others too.

Q: How long have you lived in North Tampa?

A: Born and raised here.

Q: How do you stay active during this lock down?

A: I usually work out around the house including sit ups, push ups and I do running miles to stay in shape. On some days, I play with my coach in local parks.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: One of my favorite movies is The Notebook. And for TV shows, I just finished watching Outer Banks and it was really good.

Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

A: In 2nd Grade, teacher told me to keep striving and never give up. I feel like that’s the most important piece of advice I’ve ever received because it was at a very young age and related to every situation. Every time I go through a hard time, I think about it and keep striving. And that teacher was Ms. Baker.

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?

A: I usually listen to Pandora.

Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?

A: I would choose Barrack Obama because he’s a great influence and as an Anesthesiologist you cope with so much stress, so I wanna know how he endured the stress of being the President.

Q: What is your favorite holiday?

A: My favorite holiday is Christmas because I get to spend time with my family and opening gifts.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My mother inspires me to be better because she came from like nothing, She said that she strives for better no matter what her situation was and she keeps our family strong.

Q: If you could go back over your entire school career, what is one thing you would do differently?

A: I would do two things differently. I would play football in my freshman year and I would take more AP classes to get my GPA higher than it was.

Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A: I was in the track season so I miss that the most.

Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A: I plan to eat full course meal and after that I’d like to go sky diving, that was my wish for my birthday.
